Seriously, as much as I love Darwin and his turtles, the social contract is why predation cannot and should not be accepted as "a natural feature" of capitalism and the free market. We give up independence and cash and the right to do whatever we please in exchange for having a buffer against survival of the fittest. If it turns out to be survival of the fittest anyway, then there is no benefit to the hindrances and annoyances of society and exposing your soft underbelly to Citibank and Exxon.
