Apparently, one needs to be eighteen or above to purchase expectorant:
Is the act of clearing bronchial passageways somehow illicit? Are productive coughs only for people of voting age? Am I missing some way of getting high off of this?
I looked up the active ingredient, and other than helping me with gout, I can't see any upside (other than helping me sound a bit less like Camille).

It's not guaifenesin, it's Dextromethorphan that they are carding for, since it can be used as a hallucinogen or something. Drugstores had gone ALL crazy as far as cold meds go, because you can make a recreational drug out of nearly ANYTHING these days...
These kids today, with their Dextromethorphan and their bad attitudes...
So far no hallucinations, but I'll keep you posted!
You gotta drink, like, 5 bottles of cough syrup to really get anything out of it. They call it "robotrippin" (as in robotussin, not robots.) Since 5 bottles of cough syrup is really gross, it's popular to mix it with soda of some kind, the resulting beverage is referred to as "drank" or "purple drank."
the product in question isn't syrup - they're pills - ergo, no alcohol. I had actually thought it was CVS being lazy and labeling all cough medicine as cough syrup until Ani told me that my suppressant was hallucinogenic...
