tuesday-things that displease me

cole slaw - most vile disgusting food on the planet.

now, i know what you're saying. i just haven't had the right cole slaw. but my grandmother made, according to everyone who ever had it, the world's best cole slaw, and i hated that too.

but strangely, i like sauerkraut. go figure.

I love reading your blog, i'm not well versed enough to know if the format is adopted, but it reminds me of an eric carle book. to me, that is a terrific compliment. i hope you take it as such.

according to nix there was a princess or courtesan in some quite ancient dynasty who kept a pillow book of lists, such as "things that delight." it's worth noting that nix told me about this after i mentioned this project, proving once again that i am doomed never to have an original idea.

td-i still like sauerkraut, though i think you're right in that it's well advised to not end up in a situation where one is responsible for making it. welcome, 5th reader of this thing!

(Via Wikipedia) The Pillow Book (枕草子, Makura no sōshi) is a book of observations and musings recorded by Sei Shōnagon during her time as court lady to Empress Sadako during the 990s in Heian Japan.

In it she included lists of all kinds (agreeable things, disagreeable things, things without merit), personal thoughts, interesting events in court, poetry and some opinions on her contemporaries.
